The Immune Support Stack: How Vitamin D3, Zinc, Vitamin C and Green Tea Work Together

Most immune supplements target one pathway. This stack targets four simultaneously — each compound addressing a distinct mechanism of immune function, with documented synergy between them. Vitamin D3, Zinc Citrate, Vitamin C with Rosehip and Bioflavonoids, and Green Tea Extract 9000mg are four separate BiopharmX products combined into a daily immune defence protocol, each manufactured in an MHRA-licensed, GMP-certified, ISO-accredited facility in the UK.

The combination draws on research into multi-nutrient immune support, where the combined effect of these four compounds addresses immune cell development, antiviral defense, antioxidant protection, and anti-inflammatory regulation in parallel.

Why Each Compound Is in the Stack

Vitamin D3 5000IU — T-Cell Activation and Immune Regulation

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the form of vitamin D the skin produces in response to ultraviolet light — and the form most directly active in the body. An estimated 75% of people are deficient, driven by indoor lifestyles, sunscreen use, latitude, skin pigmentation, and age-related decline in skin synthesis capacity. Deficiency is not a minor inconvenience: vitamin D receptors are present throughout the immune system, and D3 plays a direct role in activating T-cells — the immune cells responsible for identifying and destroying pathogen-infected cells.

Without sufficient D3, T-cell activation is impaired. The immune response slows, and resistance to infection weakens. Supplementing at 5000IU — significantly above the standard 400-1000IU found in most multivitamins — addresses this deficit at a therapeutically meaningful level, supporting the full activation potential of the adaptive immune response rather than merely preventing deficiency symptoms.

D3 also regulates calcium and phosphorus absorption, supporting bone density, muscle function, and mood through its action on vitamin D receptors in the brain.

Zinc Citrate — Immune Cell Development and Antiviral Activity

Zinc is present in every organ, tissue, and fluid in the body and is a required cofactor in over 300 enzymatic reactions. Its immune relevance is among the most extensively studied of any mineral: zinc is essential for the normal development and function of neutrophils, natural killer cells, T-cells, and B-cells — covering both the innate and adaptive branches of the immune system simultaneously.

Zinc's antiviral mechanism is particularly relevant: zinc ions directly inhibit the replication of certain viruses by interfering with RNA-dependent RNA polymerase — the enzyme viruses use to copy their genetic material inside host cells. This is the mechanism behind zinc's long-documented effectiveness as a cold remedy.

Zinc Citrate is the most bioavailable zinc compound available — the citrate form significantly outperforms oxide and sulphate in absorption rate, ensuring the full dose reaches circulation rather than passing through unabsorbed.

Vitamin C 1000mg with Rosehip and Bioflavonoids — Antioxidant Protection and Collagen Synthesis

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is essential for multiple immune functions: it supports the production and function of lymphocytes and phagocytes, enhances the skin barrier against pathogen entry, and neutralises free radicals generated during the oxidative burst — the immune system's primary mechanism for destroying pathogens, which also damages surrounding tissue if antioxidant protection is insufficient.

This formulation extends beyond standard ascorbic acid through two additions:

Rosehip 20:1 extract provides the equivalent of 400mg of rosehip per tablet — one of nature's densest sources of Vitamin C, containing 50% more than oranges, alongside flavonoids and fatty acids that share and extend vitamin C's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Citrus Bioflavonoids — a group of over 4,000 plant-based compounds including hesperidin — enhance the bioavailability and absorption of Vitamin C by up to 35%. In whole fruit, vitamin C never occurs in isolation: it is always accompanied by bioflavonoids that optimise its uptake. This formulation replicates that natural pairing, ensuring more of the 1000mg dose is absorbed and utilised rather than excreted.

Vitamin C is also the rate-limiting cofactor in collagen biosynthesis — it is required for the hydroxylation of lysine and proline, the two amino acids that form the structural backbone of collagen. Without adequate Vitamin C, collagen synthesis is impaired regardless of protein intake.

Green Tea Extract 9000mg — Anti-inflammatory Regulation and Antioxidant Synergy

EGCG — the primary catechin in Green Tea extract, standardised here at 45% — inhibits NF-κB, the protein complex that drives inflammatory cytokine production. Chronic low-grade inflammation suppresses immune function and is the underlying driver of most age-related disease progression. EGCG addresses this at a molecular level, reducing inflammatory markers across multiple steps in the pathway simultaneously.

Green Tea's polyphenol fraction — standardised at 95% — provides systemic antioxidant protection that works synergistically with Vitamin C to neutralise free radicals across different cellular compartments. Vitamin C is water-soluble and operates primarily in aqueous cellular environments; green tea polyphenols are active across a broader range of tissue types. Together they provide more comprehensive antioxidant coverage than either compound alone.

L-theanine in the green tea extract further supports immune function indirectly by moderating cortisol — elevated cortisol suppresses immune activity, and L-theanine's stress-reducing effects help maintain the hormonal environment in which immune function operates optimally.

The Synergy Between the Four Compounds

Each compound in this stack does something the others do not, and several create conditions that enhance the others' effectiveness:

  • Vitamin D3 activates T-cells; Zinc supports their development and function — the two are complementary at every stage of the adaptive immune response.

  • Zinc facilitates iron transport and metabolism; Vitamin C enhances iron absorption — both contribute to the oxygen-carrying capacity that immune cells depend on during high-demand periods.

  • Vitamin C and Green Tea polyphenols provide antioxidant protection through different mechanisms, covering a broader cellular spectrum together than either does alone.

  • Green Tea's anti-inflammatory EGCG reduces the inflammatory load that would otherwise suppress the immune activity that D3 and Zinc support.

One tablet from each product daily delivers the full protocol. All four are available individually or as part of the stack through OneVision. Supplements.
